A very unique and purpose filled mural is located along the 101 Freeway approaching the Downtown Los Angeles area. Its in an underpass by the Hollywood Bowl and was painted in 1987 by Russell Carlton (who died of AIDS) in collaboration with the (at the time) just organized AIDS Project Los Angeles... now known as ADLA Health. Its long been an antagonistic thorn in the side for the Whitley Neighborhood Historical District because the artwork and its purpose were held in such high regard but it was covered with graffiti.
